Aim
The 2012 Taiwan Research Visiting Scholar Grant program is funded by the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan), aiming to promote independent or collaborative research on Taiwan-related subjects by Australian scholars. The preferred research subjects broadly include classical literature, political science, economics, sociology, education, arts, geography, law, management, or conservation of natural environment pertaining to Taiwan.

Value of the Grant
Economy Class round-trip direct-flight airfare tickets will be booked and provided.
A daily living allowance of USD$200 will be offered (this is inclusive of the arrival and departure days).
The visiting research period shall be subject to the proposed research and cannot be exceeding 1 weeks (7 days).
Responsibilities of the recipients
Recipient must complete the visiting trip by the end of October, 2012.
Recipient is subject to arrange his/her own schedule while in Taiwan.
Recipient is required to submit the Cultural Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia (hereinafter refer to as “Cultural Division”) 1)an after-visit report, 2)details of the trip, and 3)acquired information and findings within two weeks after returning from Taiwan.
Recipient must retain all boarding passes and post them back to the Cultural Division within one week after returning from Taiwan.

Eligibility and applying procedure
Australian citizen only
Not overseas Taiwanese or Chinese Australian citizen
Currently full-time working in an academic institution(university, research organization, and so forth)with a master or a doctor degree
Has not previously visited Taiwan
Has a good background knowledge of Taiwan
Prospective visiting research topics related to Taiwan
Required Documents
Applicants need to submit both the following documents:
A copy of their CV with a photo
A completed Application Form (see attachment)
Important Notice
The daily allowance will be transferred through the Cultural Division to the recipients upon receiving the proof of visiting Taiwan(the copy of recipient’s passport main and visa pages, boarding passes).
